The Granada at 186 Hoe Street opened in 1930 with 2,697 seats, exteriors by Cecil Masey and interiors by Theodore Komisarjevsky, and it took a Beatles concert on 24 May 1963 before closing as the EMD in 2003. It reopened on 1 May 2025 as Soho Theatre Walthamstow after a £30m rebuild.
The town centre is turning into flats
17&Central was Selborne Walk from 1988, then The Mall Walthamstow from 2011, and a fire on 22 July 2019 took out more than half of its roof. The scheme that followed carries £200 million of private investment and two residential buildings holding 495 new flats, plus step-free access down to the Victoria line. Walthamstow Central is the end of that line. New flats of that kind come with one integrated oven under a worktop, which is the £77 job on our price list, and they come with tenants who move.
Working on the A112
Hoe Street is the A112 and it carries buses along its whole length, which matters to us in one respect only: where the van stops. The dip tank is in the van, so the racks, shelves, trays and side runners are carried out to it, soaked hot, and carried back. Everything done inside your flat is done by hand with non-caustic products, the cavity, the fan cover and the door glass, and there is no chemical smell afterwards. A flat above a shop on this street has no back door and no garden to work in. That is exactly the case the method was built for.

I am on the third floor with no lift. Does that add anything?
No. Stairs are our problem and they do not change the price. It is worth telling us when you book so we allow the time.
How long will you be in the flat?
About ninety minutes for a single oven, nearer two hours for a double. Most of that is the hand work indoors while the parts soak outside.
My landlord wants it done between tenancies. Can you invoice them?
Yes. Plenty of the work near the station is turnover work. We are insured and DBS-checked, and the oven is heat-tested and signed off before we go.
What if the door glass is double-skinned?
We split the door and clean the inner faces where the design allows it. Some sealed units cannot be opened safely, and we will tell you that rather than force the panel.

Arrived promptly and did a great job cleaning the oven, hob and extractor. They look like new now and for a very reasonable price too.
