Headstone Manor, in the park off Pinner View, was built in about 1310 and is the earliest surviving timber-framed house in Middlesex, according to the museum there; the moat round it is fed by the Yeading Brook.

The Archbishops of Canterbury owned the manor until 1546. Harrow's local list dates the Great Barn to 1506. Hendon Rural District Council bought the site in 1925, the museum opened in 1986, and after major renovations visitors could go inside the manor house for the first time in 2017.

Headstone ward, which takes in the manor grounds, Pinner View and the streets off Harrow View, had 5,176 households at the 2021 Census. 44.4% lived in a semi, 18.1% in a terrace and 18.2% in a purpose-built flat. Another 11.3% lived in part of a converted or shared house, against 4.5% in Harrow Weald ward and 2.9% in Hatch End.
The mix changes from one street to the next. In the census area round Parkside Way (Harrow 015D), 68.3% of households were in a semi and about four in five owned their home. Round St George's church on Pinner View, built in 1910 and 1911 to designs by J. S. Alder, the census area (Harrow 021A) had 30.1% of households in a terrace and 17.1% in a converted or shared house.
Converted flats tend to have compact kitchens, often with a built-in single under the worktop, and an upstairs flat may mean a flight or two of stairs. The racks, trays and side runners still come out and are soaked and cleaned separately, while the cavity, the fan cover and the door glass are degreased by hand in the kitchen. A semi with a refitted kitchen may have a double, which takes about two hours.

Each appliance has its own fixed price, so a single in a converted flat costs the same as a single in a semi, and the figure is agreed on the phone before anyone comes out.
Victor Road's permit zone, new in 2026
Since 5 January 2026 the streets round Victor Road have been a controlled parking zone, introduced under an experimental traffic order that can run for up to 18 months. It is marked VR on the signs and runs Monday to Saturday until 6.30pm; the order gives the start as 8.30am, though the council's consultation page says 8am, so go by the signs. The council lists Albert Road, Atherton Place, Downing Close, Edward Road, Fairfield Drive, Sidney Road, Victor Road and parts of Harrow View and Headstone Gardens.

Very satisfied with the service. They were slightly late at first but I got a call from customer service to let me know, and it was all fine. The oven man, as he called himself, arrived and worked very hard for a couple of hours. My oven now looks like it has never been used.
Nice hardworking lads that always do a good job. We used them for our old flat when moving out and for the new one now, both jobs were done very professionally. My wife is very impressed with the results and would recommend them to friends and family.
