Oven cleaning around Hatch Lane, E4, covering Chingford Hatch and Friday Hill on the Epping Forest edge. Dip-tank method, seven days, single ovens from £77.
A hatch was a gate into the forest, and Hatch Lane is the road that went to one. The route is medieval or earlier. A long narrow arm of Epping Forest still runs from the Hatch at Chingford down to the forest land in Walthamstow, which is why the greenery here arrives in strips rather than in one block, and why the streets off the lane keep stopping at trees.
The name outlived the ward
Hatch Lane was an electoral ward of Waltham Forest from 1978, returning three councillors and covering Chingford Hatch and Friday Hill. It stopped existing in May 2022, folded into Hatch Lane and Highams Park North under an order made on 17 May 2021. The road kept the name regardless. Chingford has six wards and about 70,583 people between them at the 2021 census, all inside E4.
Wide frontages, side access, deep gardens
The interwar hipped semis along here went up in the 1920s and 1930s on the streets running out from Chingford station, which opened in 1873, towards the forest boundary, and they were built with generous side access and long rear gardens. That matters more than it sounds. It means the van gets close to the kitchen without blocking anybody, and it means the original galley kitchens have often been pushed out into the garden, which changes what is standing there. A gas hob in a Chingford Hatch semi is frequently older than the oven under it, and hob cleaning runs £23–28 alongside the oven.
Parking is patchy rather than blanket
Waltham Forest runs controlled parking zones across the Chingford wards, prioritising residents and their visitors at set times and days, so the answer varies street by street rather than across E4 as a whole. We sort out the bay. There is no call-out fee inside the North and South Circular and no premium for a forest-edge address. Queen Elizabeth's Hunting Lodge, put up by Henry VIII in 1543, pulls traffic up the hill at weekends.

Chingford questions
Where does the dip tank go?
It stays in the van, heated, on the road outside. Racks, shelves, trays and side runners go out to it.
Is anything caustic used inside my house?
No. The cavity, fan cover and door glass are done by hand with non-caustic products, so there is no chemical smell after.
Can you do this for an end of tenancy?
Yes. The door glass is split where the design allows, which is the first thing an inventory clerk checks.
How long does it take?
About ninety minutes for a single oven and two hours for a double, heat-tested and signed off before we leave.

What customers tell us
Brilliant clean, my oven looks like brand new. A 5 star clean.
Arrived promptly and did a great job cleaning the oven, hob and extractor. They look like new now and for a very reasonable price too.
I would certainly recommend this service, very efficient and good value for money. The young man did a great job and even cleaned the kitchen floor. Thank you.
