The pond is older than the suburb around it
The pond on the east side of the Limpsfield Road appears in the Elizabethan Manor Rolls for Sanderstead Manor under the name Wychemere, and it has been on record since the 13th century. It is thought to have begun as a watering hole for cattle, and possibly to date from Neolithic times. Suburban building in the 1930s shrank it. Croydon Council and local volunteers look after it now.
A farm sale in the 1920s set out the streets
Wentworth Way is the northern border with Sanderstead, and it marks the edge of the former Hamsey Green Farm estate, which was sold off for housing in the 1920s and filled in with the suburban semis and detached houses that still line the B269. That stock generally means a built-under or freestanding double oven in a rear kitchen, frequently one that has been extended at some point, with a separate hob and a hood above it. A double oven in a Wentworth Way semi is £110 and takes about two hours.
One lane carries the county line
The boundary between Croydon and Tandridge District Council runs immediately south of Tithepit Shaw Lane, which leaves the village split, southern part in Surrey, northern part in Greater London. One lane, two councils. Surrey County Council is the highways authority for the lane itself. The Good Companions pub on that corner closed in 2012 and was demolished in 2013, and Lidl, having bought the site for £2 million, applied in November 2025 for a store with 13 dwellings and five three-storey townhouses fronting the lane.

Do you charge more for the Surrey side?
No. Fixed price, no premium-area surcharge, whether the address reads CR6 or CR2.
Do you need my sink or my hot tap?
No. The heated tank and the water are both in the van. Racks, shelves, trays and side runners go out to it and soak there while the cavity is done by hand indoors.
Where do you park on the parade?
We sort our own parking and pay for the bay if there is one. Tell us the road when you book, because the kit has to travel from the van to your kitchen.
Can you do the hob and the hood in the same visit?
Yes. Hob £23–28 depending on the type, extractor hood £28, both alongside the oven.

Nice hardworking lads that always do a good job. We used them for our old flat when moving out and for the new one now, both jobs were done very professionally. My wife is very impressed with the results and would recommend them to friends and family.

Very satisfied with the service. They were slightly late at first but I got a call from customer service to let me know, and it was all fine. The oven man, as he called himself, arrived and worked very hard for a couple of hours. My oven now looks like it has never been used.
