Hampstead has more than 300 listed buildings, and the conservation area Camden designated in 1968 and has extended six times since covers Church Row, Flask Walk, Well Walk, Holly Hill, New End and the approaches to the Heath. The Georgian houses on Church Row run past 4,600 square feet; the early-1800s ones on Downshire Hill are not much smaller. Kitchens on that scale are rarely a lone integrated single. Parking around the village
Camden's CA-H zone splits into five sub-areas, each with its own hours of control, so a street two minutes from yours can be running to a different clock. Double yellows in the zone are in effect until 8pm even with a trade permit. The lanes off Heath Street are narrow and there is not much bay to spare. If you tell us the street and the sub-area when you book, we will work out where the van goes before we arrive rather than while you are waiting.
Method
Racks, shelves, trays and side runners come out and soak in the heated tank in the van. Cavity, fan cover and door glass are hand-degreased indoors, non-caustic, so there is no smell left behind. Door split where the design allows. Heat-tested and signed off before we go.

Are you insured for work in a listed house?
Yes, insured and DBS-checked. Nothing we do touches the fabric of the building; the work is inside the appliance.
How long will you be in the kitchen?
Ninety minutes or so for a single, about two hours for a double. An AGA is longer again.
Do you take the oven door off?
We split the door where the design allows it, which is how the inner glass gets done properly. Some models are sealed and we leave those alone.
