The work here
Most of our Hammersmith and Fulham jobs are the bay-fronted Victorian and Edwardian terraces that run from Brook Green down through Fulham, plus the mansion blocks along the main roads. Two things shape the day. The older terraces keep a freestanding cooker or a range in the chimney breast, sometimes an AGA where a family has knocked the kitchen through, so the appliance is bigger and older than the spec-list flat down the road. Parking and the van
Parking is a real part of the job here. The dip-tank lives in the van, so racks and shelves are carried out to soak while the cavity is done indoors, and that means the technician needs to stop close to the door. Nearly all of the borough runs controlled parking, in lettered zones such as B and E, and the whole of Hammersmith and Fulham falls inside the ULEZ between the North and South Circular. Some terrace streets off Goldhawk Road and around Shepherd's Bush Market are tight. We sort a visitor permit or a bay with you when we book.
The racks go to the tank in the van; the cavity, fan cover and glass are degreased by hand indoors, so no chemical smell is left behind.
What we clean
The trays, shelves, side runners and the fan cover lift out and go into the heated tank outside. The oven cavity, the inside of the door and the glass are cleaned by hand indoors with non-caustic products, and where the door design allows we split it to reach the film between the panes. The oven is heat-tested and signed off before we leave. A single takes about ninety minutes; a double runs closer to two hours. Rentals and move-outs
Fulham and Parsons Green turn over a lot of rented family houses, and the letting agents around New Kings Road and Wandsworth Bridge Road keep the end-of-tenancy work steady through the summer. An inventory clerk checks the oven glass and the runners, so a wipe rarely passes. A full strip does. Book it a day or two before the check-out.
