Station Road began as Greenhill Lane, and the Victoria County History gives it its present name by 1871. By 1865 College Road, Kymberley Road and the road that became St Ann's Road, still unnamed, had been laid out between the lane and Lowlands Road.

After the First World War Harrow was short of working-class houses, and under the housing Acts of 1919 to 1925 the councils built estates to close the gap. New flats by Harrow-on-the-Hill station
The other end of the ward has been built upwards. Harrow Square on College Road was finished in 2019 with 318 flats. On Gayton Road, permission was granted in July 2016 for 355 flats in five blocks of five to eleven storeys, on the old car park, Sonia Court and the former library site; Land Registry records show new-build flats there, in Bellow House, selling in December 2018.
