Greenford went from 843 people in 1911 to more than 32,000 by 1951, and the housing shows it: rows of 1930s and 1950s semis along Greenford Road and Oldfield Lane, built fast for a suburb the A40 had just made reachable. Greenford Quay changed the work down here
Down Oldfield Lane North on the Grand Union Canal, Greystar's Greenford Quay is putting in 2,118 flats, of which 1,439 are built to rent rather than sell. Tillermans alone holds 379. That is a large block of tenancies turning over on a schedule, every one of them with an integrated single oven and an inventory clerk looking at it on the way out, so a lot of the calls from UB6 are people wanting a fixed price for a Greenford Quay flat before they commit.
Parking around the Broadway is the live question
Ealing consulted in 2024 on new controlled parking zones covering Greenford town centre and Greenford South, and it was not popular. The semis mostly have driveways. The Broadway itself, and the flats above the shops, do not, and that is where the walk back to the van with a tray of runners gets long. Greenford station is worth knowing for a different reason: it has the only incline lift on the Underground, put in during 2015 where the last wooden escalator used to be.

The oven is the item inventories argue about most. We heat-test it and sign it off, and the report is dated, which is what the agent wants to see.
How long will you be in the flat?
Ninety minutes for a single, about two hours for a double. Most of that is hand work on the cavity, the fan cover and the glass.
Do you use caustic products indoors?
No. Caustic stays in the tank in the van. Indoors it is non-caustic only, so a studio at Tillermans does not end up smelling of it for two days.
Can you do the hob at the same time?
Yes, £23–28 depending on the type. It adds very little time while the racks are already in the tank.

Very satisfied with the service. They were slightly late at first but I got a call from customer service to let me know, and it was all fine. The oven man, as he called himself, arrived and worked very hard for a couple of hours. My oven now looks like it has never been used.
Nice hardworking lads that always do a good job. We used them for our old flat when moving out and for the new one now, both jobs were done very professionally. My wife is very impressed with the results and would recommend them to friends and family.
