Green Street Green only really began to grow when Fox & Sons opened the Oak Brewery on Sevenoaks Road in 1836. The brewery was offered for auction in June 1909, when 28 of its pubs were sold to Truman, Hanbury & Buxton, and its closure left people in the village out of work.
From brewery village to 1992 estate
In the First World War the military requisitioned the brewery buildings as barracks. A row of shops went up along the High Street in 1912, and the brewery site itself became a new housing estate in 1992. A kitchen fitted in the early 1990s is often built around an integrated oven, either a single under the worktop or a built-under double.
1950s houses up to the Green Belt
The Town and Country Planning Act of 1947 fixed the London Green Belt boundary at the edge of Green Street Green. Inside that line, intensive council and private building went on in the 1950s between the High Street and new Chelsfield. Since 2022 the village has been part of Bromley's Chelsfield ward.
Around the High Street the 2021 Census counted 661 households: 36.8% in detached houses, 32.7% semi-detached and 23.0% terraced, with flats under 3%. 85.3% owned their home and 48.7% owned it outright. If yours is a double, it will be one of two layouts, and either is booked simply as a double.

Parking on Green Street Green's side roads

Yes. We work seven days, weekends cost the weekday price, and the lines are open 8am to 6pm at weekends.
We are leaving a rented house here. Can the letting agent have the invoice?
Yes, made out to the agency, with photos for the checkout file on request and a key pick-up if the house is already empty.
Is Maypole part of Green Street Green?

Should the oven be off before you arrive?
Yes. Leave it off long enough to be cool when we arrive, and keep a socket free near the cooker.
