Gordon Hill is named after Gordon House, which stood west of Chase Side near the top of the hill and was once the home of Lord George Gordon, whose name was given to the Gordon Riots of 1780. The house came down around 1860, and by 1894 new houses were going up on its site.

The Gordon Hill parking zone, 12 to 1pm
Enfield Council's parking zone map, as archived in December 2022, shows the Gordon Hill zone controlled Monday to Friday from 12 noon to 1pm only. It takes in the western part of Lavender Hill, Cedar Road, Lavender Gardens, Rendlesham Road and Tudor Crescent; the streets round Gordon Hill road and Kirkland Drive were outside it. Zones change, so check the signs on your street. The team needs somewhere to park for the whole visit (about 90 minutes for a single).
