Cornwall Gardens went up between 1862 and 1879 as a long narrow garden square running east off Gloucester Road, and the houses along it were built for households with servants, which is why the kitchen sat on the lower ground floor rather than anywhere near the front door. Most of those houses are flats now.
The lower-ground flat still has the big kitchen; the upstairs flats got the leftovers.
Queen's Gate is red brick mansion blocks and the flats in them run deep, with room for a proper range. Miele and Gaggenau in the refurbished ones. The ones that have not been touched since the 1990s still have a Neff double that has never been taken apart, and those are the long jobs.

Parking, and the Cromwell Road problem
Cromwell Road is the A4 and it is a red route, so the van does not stop on it. Gloucester Road itself takes hotel traffic all day. The Kensington and Chelsea bays around Queen's Gate and Cornwall Gardens start at 8.30am and most of them run to 6.30pm, so we take one of those and walk the racks and shelves out to the tank.
SW7 is inside the ULEZ but outside the Congestion Charge Zone. One small mercy.
Imperial College sets the calendar
Imperial is a short walk from Gloucester Road station and a good share of the flats between here and Queen's Gate go to its staff, postgrads and visiting academics, whose tenancies all end within the same few weeks. Late August and September we do more check-out cleans in SW7 than in any other month. Those ovens have usually been worked hard by four people sharing.

No. The racks, shelves and side runners soak in the heated tank in the van, and the products used indoors on the cavity, fan cover and door glass are non-caustic.
