Two patterns. The converted period flats around Berridge Road and Woodland Road tend to have older freestanding cookers, sometimes a 90cm range wedged into a narrow galley. Toward the Crystal Palace Triangle, where Westow Street, Westow Hill and Church Road meet, the flats above the shops run integrated single ovens. Lambeth has been rolling controlled parking zones across the Gipsy Hill and West Norwood side, so on streets inside a CPZ we plan the van around permit hours. It rarely holds the job up.

The racks, shelves, trays and side runners soak in the heated tank in the van. The cavity, fan cover and door glass we degrease by hand indoors with non-caustic products, so there is no smell when we go. Every oven is heat-tested and signed off first. Questions we get asked in Gipsy Hill
Can you park near the flats up the hill?
Usually yes. Some streets near the station now sit inside a Lambeth CPZ, so tell us the road and we will sort a permit or a spot before we set off. The tank stays in the van either way.
My oven is integrated in a Central Hill flat. Do you still do it?
Yes. Integrated single ovens are the most common job on the estate. We clean the cavity, glass and fan cover in place and take the removable parts to the tank.
Do you cover both SE19 and SE27?
We do. Gipsy Hill straddles the two, and there is no call-out fee inside the North and South Circular.
How long before I can use it again?
Straight away. It is heat-tested before we leave, and the non-caustic products mean no fumes to clear.
