The Romford Garden Suburb was built between July 1910 and June 1911 as a public exhibition, 159 cottages and houses drawn by more than a hundred architects, and it has been a conservation area since 1970. A fair share of the larger Gidea Park houses run a two-oven AGA or a Rangemaster, and those are the jobs we plan the day around, because a cast-iron clean takes longer and we let it cool right down first. If the house has an AGA we book it as an AGA clean and set aside the extra time. Everywhere else it is the standard single or double: racks, shelves, trays and side runners lift out and soak in the heated tank down in the van, while the cavity, fan cover and door glass are degreased indoors by hand with non-caustic products, so there is no chemical smell after. Every oven is heat-tested before we sign it off.

Parking near the station
Around Station Road and Balgores Lane the kerbs fill early with commuters using the Elizabeth line, so we tend to unload the tank close to the door and move the van after. Main Road can be slow at school run. Gidea Park sits inside the London-wide ULEZ, and our vans meet the standard. Tell us the road when you book and we will plan the parking around it.
Do you clean AGAs and Rangemasters in the Exhibition houses?
Yes. A two-oven AGA is £143 and we let the cast iron cool fully before we start. A 90cm range is £114.
Is the oven usable straight after?
It is. We heat-test it and sign it off before leaving, and the non-caustic products mean nothing needs airing out.
Will the products harm an original enamel cooker?
No. We degrease the cavity and glass by hand with non-caustic products, which is why we use this method on older cast-iron and enamel ovens.
Can you fit us in on a weekend?
