Gallows Corner is a five-exit roundabout in Havering where the A12 Eastern Avenue, the A118 Main Road towards Romford, the A127 Southend Arterial Road, the A12 Colchester Road and Straight Road all meet, on the Romford and Hornchurch boundary about 16 miles out from Charing Cross. Nobody's kitchen is here. It is a junction and a retail park, so this page is really about the houses in the roads that feed it.
A landmark you give as a direction
The name is literal. The gallows stood near here, north of what is now Eastern Avenue, and the Romford burial registers record felons executed at the spot in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries; Straight Road, the exit running north, was called Gallows Lane before it was straightened. The A127 opened in stages between June and September 1924 to link Romford with Southend, and Eastern Avenue was built through the same decade as a bypass. When someone books us for "just past Gallows Corner", they mean a house off one of those five arms, and the Havering areas we cover lists them properly.
The temporary flyover lasted 55 years
The flyover went up in 1970 as a set of prefabricated units, a system called the Braithwaite FliWay, chosen because it was quicker and cheaper than a proper underpass, and it was meant to be a stopgap. It stood for 55 years. The junction shut to normal traffic on 23 June 2025 so the thing could be demolished and rebuilt on its old foundations, and it partially reopened on 10 May 2026. As of now the eastbound flyover, Straight Road and Main Road are open, the westbound flyover is still shut, and Essex and Suffolk Water expect to hand the site back to TfL by the end of August 2026. Worth a thought when you pick a slot.

Do you charge more out here?

Will the kitchen smell of chemicals?
It should not. Racks, shelves, trays and side runners soak in the heated tank in the van, and the cavity, fan cover and door glass are done by hand indoors with non-caustic products.
How long do you need?
About 90 minutes for a single oven and roughly two hours for a double, with a heat test and sign-off at the end.
