Furzedown House, a Georgian house of 1794 that is now part of Graveney School's campus on Welham Road, was bought by the London County Council in 1915 and opened that year as a college training women to teach.
The Seely estate and the golf course
In the late 19th century Furzedown House and its land belonged to the Seely family. Part of it, next to Tooting Junction station, became available in 1892 and the Tooting Bec Golf Club made a course there, designed by Tom Dunn. The estate was sold at the start of the 20th century, the club's tenure ran out in March 1906 and it moved to Mitcham Common. An undated report from around then described roads already cut through the bunkers and the putting greens stripped of turf.
A neighbourhood of owners
The House of Commons Library gives the name Furzedown West to one of the Census areas that make up Furzedown ward; its postcodes include Moyser Road, which has shops, and Pendle, Pretoria and Ribblesdale Roads. At the 2021 Census 60.4% of its 2,917 households owned their home, against 47.8% across the whole ward, and 24.1% rented privately. Most lived in houses: 38.4% in a terraced house and 23.5% in a semi-detached or detached one.
A family house usually has room in the kitchen for a double oven, or for a 90cm range under a wide hood. The racks, trays and side runners come out and are soaked and cleaned separately; the cavity, the fan cover and the door glass are degreased by hand in the kitchen, on dust sheets, and the door is split where its design allows.

Parking: uncontrolled roads and the F1 hour
Wandsworth's parking controls search leaves out any road without controls, and it returns nothing for Moyser Road, Pendle Road, Pretoria Road, Ribblesdale Road, Gracedale Road or Spalding Road. The western side is different: Rectory Lane, Idlecombe Road and Gorse Rise, and stretches of Welham Road and Southcroft Road, are in the F1 zone, permit holders only from 11am to midday on weekdays. Check the signs at the end of your road, since controls can change, and tell us the street when you book.

Yes. With a single oven the three together are £117; with a double, £143.
How long will a range cooker take?
Two to three hours for a 90cm range. A two-oven AGA takes half a day and needs switching off the night before so it is cool.

Very satisfied with the service. They were slightly late at first but I got a call from customer service to let me know, and it was all fine. The oven man, as he called himself, arrived and worked very hard for a couple of hours. My oven now looks like it has never been used.
