The streets we work most
A lot of our Fulwell bookings sit on the streets that went up after Fulwell Lodge was pulled down and Wates built over the grounds, which is why we spend so many mornings on Manoel Road, Lisbon Avenue and Augusta Road. The names are left over from King Manuel II of Portugal, who lived at Fulwell Park until he died in 1932, and the houses are 1930s semis with kitchens that were pushed out at the back some time in the last twenty years. That extension is usually where the oven ended up. Freestanding 60cm cookers in the untouched ones, integrated doubles in the ones that had a full refit.
Towards the junction where Sixth Cross Road, Hampton Road, South Road and Wellington Road all meet, the stock gets older and the rooms smaller. Victorian and Edwardian. The oven door often opens onto a wall unit.
Parking decides how the job runs
Fulwell has its own controlled parking zone, Zone FW, Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 6.30pm. Wellington Road near the golf club is kinder to a van than the Cross Roads terraces. The tank lives in the vehicle, so racks, shelves, trays and side runners go out to the kerb and soak, while the cavity, fan cover and door glass are hand-degreased indoors with non-caustic products. No chemical smell after.

A single takes about ninety minutes. A double is nearer two hours. In the detached houses off Hampton Road we often find a 90cm Rangemaster in the old chimney recess, and that one is £114.

Do you need my parking permit?
Only if we cannot get a bay. A visitor permit or the RingGo code sorts it. Weekends we just park.
Will the kitchen smell of chemicals afterwards?
No. Everything caustic stays in the tank in the van. What comes indoors is non-caustic, and the oven is heat-tested before we sign it off.
Can you do it before a tenancy check-out?
Yes, seven days. Letting agents around Fulwell station send us a fair amount of this work at short notice, and the oven is normally what the inventory clerk marks down.
