Freezywater is the top end of Enfield's Hertford Road, the hamlet that grew for the rifle workers at the Royal Small Arms Factory down at Enfield Lock. The result is a long ribbon of Victorian and interwar terraces either side of Hertford Road, most of them still family houses with freestanding cookers or fitted doubles. Then there are the new flats. Small apartment blocks keep going up on Hertford Road plots, one granted for seven flats over three and four storeys, and Clare Court is another.
