Charlotte Street is Georgian terraces built between the 1760s and the early 1800s, and for two centuries the owners lived above their shops. A lot of those upper floors are flats now, and the oven behind the door is usually a single integrated unit in a professional's kitchen, used at weekends and little else. That is most of our Fitzrovia work: quiet, low-use ovens where the grease has simply had years to bake on rather than pile up in a month.
The streets we cover
We work the mansion flats and period conversions off Fitzroy Square, the runs of flats above shops on Goodge Street and Cleveland Street, and the newer apartments in Rathbone Square on the old Middlesex Hospital site. The new-build kitchens are almost all single integrated ovens; the older conversions sometimes hide a freestanding cooker or, in a larger flat near the square, a range. When we do a period flat, most of it comes down to a standard single oven clean, with the hob and the extractor hood added on where the kitchen needs them.
The dip-tank method, and why there is no smell
Racks, shelves, trays and the side runners lift out and soak in a heated tank in the van. Inside your flat we degrease the cavity, the fan cover and the door glass by hand with non-caustic products, and where the door design allows it we split the door to reach the inner glass. The oven is switched on, heat-tested and signed off before we leave. That is why a Fitzrovia flat is not left with a chemical smell, which matters when the kitchen opens straight onto the living space, as most do here.

Fixed prices, quoted on the phone. No premium for a W1 address, and no call-out fee inside the North and South Circular. A single takes about ninety minutes; a double is nearer two hours.

Loading around here needs timing
Fitzrovia straddles the borough line. South of the boundary it is Westminster zone F; the northern streets sit in Camden's CPZ, and the whole district is inside central London ULEZ. Every corner south of New Cavendish Street carries double yellow lines, so the van cannot sit on a junction while we ferry racks. On Westminster single yellows, loading runs free from 8:30am to 11am, then drops to twenty minutes, so an early booking on Charlotte Street or Goodge Street is far easier than a lunchtime one, when the restaurant deliveries have the kerb.
Questions we get in W1
My kitchen is open-plan. Will the whole flat smell?
No. The caustic soak stays in the tank in the van, and the indoor work uses non-caustic products only, so an open-plan Fitzrovia flat is not left smelling of chemicals.
Do you clean the small office and studio kitchens?
Yes. There is a lot of media and design office space here, and we clean the compact ovens, hobs and extractor hoods in those kitchenettes as well as home kitchens.
Can you park near Fitzroy Square?
We manage it. We load on the approach streets rather than on the square itself, and we plan the visit around the loading hours so it is quick.

Because Fitzrovia packs restaurants, design studios and flats onto the same short streets, more of our local jobs are small commercial and office kitchens sitting a floor or two above a shop than in a purely residential postcode.
