Farringdon Without counted 1,099 residents at the 2011 census, in a ward that also holds St Bartholomew's Hospital, the Inner and Middle Temple and the Smithfield market buildings. The domestic kitchens here are a thin layer on top of a great deal of office floor and barristers' chambers. Most sit in two pockets: Barts Square off Bartholomew Close, and the blocks around Charterhouse Square on the northern edge.
New flats here mean one integrated oven
Barts Square put 215 flats into 17 buildings on old hospital land, and the last of them sold in spring 2023. Kitchens of that age nearly always come with a single integrated oven, an induction hob, and an extractor hidden in the unit above. A single oven clean is £77 and runs to about ninety minutes: the racks, shelves and side runners lift out and soak in a heated tank in the van, while the cavity, fan cover and door glass are degreased by hand indoors with non-caustic products, so nothing is left smelling of chemicals afterwards.
Parking is metered, never permitted
There is no free on-street parking anywhere in the Square Mile. Bays run on RingGo, four hours maximum during controlled hours, and the ward sits inside both the Congestion Charge at £18 a day and the ULEZ. None of that lands on your bill. Prices are fixed on the phone, with no premium-area surcharge and no call-out fee inside the North and South Circular.

Smithfield's closure will change who lives here
The City Corporation voted to end wholesale trading at Smithfield from 2028, with the market moving out to the Royal Docks and the listed buildings earmarked for a cultural and commercial scheme. More flats will follow. The southern half of the ward, down New Bridge Street towards Blackfriars in EC4, is chambers and offices with very little domestic cooking in it, while the serviced and corporate lets around Charterhouse Street change hands often enough to keep end-of-tenancy oven cleans coming.

Does the dip tank come into my flat?
No. The heated tank stays in the van, so only the racks, shelves, trays and side runners leave the kitchen. Everything done inside is by hand.
Can you park close enough at Barts Square?
A metered bay within carrying distance is normally enough. We pay the meter, not you.
How long does a double oven take?
Around two hours at £110. The oven is heat-tested and signed off before we leave.

Arrived promptly and did a great job cleaning the oven, hob and extractor. They look like new now and for a very reasonable price too.
