Most of our Euston work is Somers Town. The Ossulston Estate off Chalton Street, where the London County Council put up Levita House and Chamberlain House between 1927 and 1931 around that courtyard, and the towers of Ampthill Square that replaced the Victorian streets in the mid-sixties. Levita was refurbished in 2004-07 and some flats were made larger, so a few of those kitchens are twenty years newer than the block they sit in.
Freestanding cookers, not integrated ones
This is the reverse of what we find a mile south. Estate kitchens here take a freestanding cooker, fifty or sixty centimetres, oven below and a grill compartment above it, and the grill is nearly always the worse of the two because nobody cleans a grill pan that lives inside the machine. People cook properly in Somers Town. Drummond Street has been feeding this postcode since long before the station rebuild, and the flats around it turn out food that leaves real carbon on a roof plate rather than the light film we lift out of a corporate let.
The grill is usually the job here, not the oven.
The hob comes off the same unit, so it goes into the tank with the racks. A hob clean is £23–28 alongside the oven.
CA-G and the HS2 mess
Euston sits in Camden's CA-G controlled parking zone, covering Drummond Street, Euston Street and Eversholt Street. HS2 has suspended a lot of bays around the Regent's Park ward and Eversholt Street has been through repeated closures and temporary lights. We work around it. If your block has a service bay we can use for twenty minutes, mention it on the phone, because the racks and trays go to the van and back.

Yes, if it is one oven cavity. The grill compartment, the shelves and the grill pan all go in the tank at no extra cost.
Can you get up to a flat with no lift working?
We do it regularly on the older blocks. It adds time, not money. The price is fixed on the phone and there is no call-out fee inside the North and South Circular.
My landlord wants it done before check-out. How much notice?
A day or two is usually enough, and we work Sundays. A single takes about ninety minutes, a double around two hours, and the oven is heat-tested and signed off before we leave so the inventory clerk has nothing to argue with.
