Up Burgh Heath Road towards the Downs
This page covers the KT17 4 streets on the climb from Epsom town towards the Downs: the southern stretch of Burgh Heath Road, Lynwood Avenue, Mospey Crescent, Carters Road, Beech Road and College View. Until the mid-19th century this part of Epsom was common fields on chalk. In the older part houses went up from the 1870s, mostly between the late 1890s and the First World War, and the borough made it the Burgh Heath Road conservation area on 16 December 1987. Its 2010 appraisal describes the south end as the most wooded part, mainly detached houses in large plots, and records infilling in the 1920s and 1930s and, from the 1960s, new estates on the fields that had surrounded the area, when Down Hall, to the south, was pulled down for new housing.
Epsom Downs station is not in this patch. It stands over the boundary in Reigate and Banstead's Nork ward, with KT17 postcodes around it, and that side has its own Nork page.

Large houses, mostly owner-occupied
Most of these roads fall in one Census area, Epsom and Ewell 009B. In 2021 it had 516 households: 62.4% in a detached house, 25.2% in a semi and 9.3% in a terrace, with fewer than 1% in a purpose-built flat. 88.6% owned their home, 43.6% outright.
A house of around 1900 often had a scullery behind the kitchen. Where the two have been knocked through, the oven could be anything from a single under the worktop to a double at eye level or a range. Every part that lifts out is soaked and cleaned separately. The cavity, fan cover and door glass are degreased by hand in the kitchen, on dust sheets, and the door is split where its design allows.

Parking near Burgh Heath Road
On-street rules here are Surrey County Council's. An order Surrey made on 8 September 2026, in operation from 14 September, made the residents of Nos. 63, 65 and 67 Burgh Heath Road, two flats at No. 2 and No. 2 Pitt Road eligible for permits in its residents' permit zone M, so read the signs for permit bays on your own road. The appraisal calls Burgh Heath Road quite busy with traffic at its south end and the roads off it quieter, and notes front boundaries removed in places to make room for parking. If the house has a drive, tell us whether the van can use it for the morning; if not, tell us the road and we will plan a legal space nearby.

Said after the sign-off
Brilliant clean, my oven looks like brand new. A 5 star clean.
Arrived promptly and did a great job cleaning the oven, hob and extractor. They look like new now and for a very reasonable price too.
Very satisfied with the service. They were slightly late at first but I got a call from customer service to let me know, and it was all fine. The oven man, as he called himself, arrived and worked very hard for a couple of hours. My oven now looks like it has never been used.
