Enfield Chase station opened as plain Enfield on 1 April 1871, the end of a Great Northern branch from Alexandra Palace. It moved a few hundred yards east when the line was extended in 1910 and took the name of the old royal hunting ground in 1924, so that nobody would mix it up with Enfield Town.
Victorian roads and newer closes by the station
Building started soon after the first station. Shirley Road and Station Road, next to it, had been divided into building plots by 1880, and from 1879 A. Culloden Rowan laid out Bycullah, Rowantree and Culloden roads on the 54-acre Bycullah Park estate. For the 1910 extension two mansions on Windmill Hill, Chase Lodge and Chase Park, were pulled down.
Much of the housing round the station is newer than that. In the statistical area that covers Windmill Hill, Old Park Road, Waverley Road and smaller roads such as Gladbeck Way and Tempsford Close, 290 of the 920 homes on the council tax list in March 2025 were built between 1983 and 1992, and another 110 between 1993 and 1999. At the 2021 Census 56.5% of its 843 households lived in a purpose-built block of flats, and 31.7% rented privately.
Flats of that age can have a built-in single, often under the worktop, and a refit may have added a pyrolytic oven.
What is left of the old Chase
When an Act of 1777 divided Enfield Chase, it covered 8,349 acres. The Crown took 3,213, part of which later became Trent Park, and the land allotted to the vicar is still known as Vicarage Farm. Chase Green, near the station, was the last piece to be enclosed, in 1803. Middlesex County Council bought about 4,000 acres in 1936-7 for the green belt, Trent Park opened as a country park in 1973, and in 1994 the council's Unitary Development Plan designated the Enfield Chase Heritage Area of Special Character. Vicarage Farm is also known as the 'Chase Park' site in Enfield's draft Local Plan, which allocates it 3,700 homes; the planning inspector's letter of 15 June 2026 did not recommend removing it.

The Enfield Town parking zone at Enfield Chase station
Enfield Council's zone map as archived in December 2022 shows the Enfield Town zone, controlled Monday to Saturday from 8am to 6.30pm, reaching the east side of the station: Shirley Road, Cecil Road, Old Park Avenue, Gresham Close and the bottom of Windmill Hill. Waverley Road, Crescent Road, Old Park Road and Gladbeck Way were outside it. Inside the zone the van needs a visitor permit from you or another legal space for the whole visit, so a Sunday, outside zone hours and at the weekday price, can be simpler. Check the signs, as zones change.

On the 2022 map the zone ran Monday to Saturday, 8am to 6.30pm, so a visit in those hours needs a permit or a legal space outside the zone close by; check the signs for the current rules.
My oven has a pyrolytic cycle. Is a hand clean still worth it?
The cycle deals with the cavity. Door glass, racks, runners and the fan cover still collect grease, and those are what the separate soak and the hand clean deal with.
How long does a built-in single take?
About 90 minutes. A double is about two hours.
Do you need anything from me?
Switch the oven off beforehand so it is cool, and check there is a working socket in the kitchen. When you book, give us your road so we know where the van can wait.

Arrived promptly and did a great job cleaning the oven, hob and extractor. They look like new now and for a very reasonable price too.
Very satisfied with the service. They were slightly late at first but I got a call from customer service to let me know, and it was all fine. The oven man, as he called himself, arrived and worked very hard for a couple of hours. My oven now looks like it has never been used.
Nice hardworking lads that always do a good job. We used them for our old flat when moving out and for the new one now, both jobs were done very professionally. My wife is very impressed with the results and would recommend them to friends and family.
