Enfield Chase is two things with one name. It is a railway station at Windmill Hill, 9 miles 9 chains out of King's Cross on the Hertford Loop, which took the name in 1924 to stop people confusing it with Enfield Town. It is also what the station was named after: a royal hunting ground of 8,349 acres, first written down as Enefeld Chacee in 1325 and held by the Duchy of Lancaster from 1471.
An Act of Parliament made these streets possible
The Enfield Chase Act of 1777 enclosed the whole thing, ended the commoners' grazing and wood rights, and handed the Crown the largest share at 3,218 acres. Everything built here since sits on that carve-up. Fragments of the old chase are still loose in the landscape, at Trent Park, Whitewebbs and Hadley Common, and since 1994 the leftovers have been protected as the Enfield Chase Heritage Area of Special Character.
Low density, big rooms, spare bedrooms
Around Gordon Hill and Chase Side the pattern is detached and terraced houses at low residential density, with a high share of households sitting on spare rooms. Enfield Town Conservation Area backs onto Chase Green a few minutes from the station. Kitchens in this stock tend to be generous and often extended, which is why a wide cooker is common rather than the exception. Arrived promptly and did a great job cleaning the oven, hob and extractor. They look like new now and for a very reasonable price too.
Very satisfied with the service. They were slightly late at first but I got a call from customer service to let me know, and it was all fine. The oven man, as he called himself, arrived and worked very hard for a couple of hours. My oven now looks like it has never been used.
Nice hardworking lads that always do a good job. We used them for our old flat when moving out and for the new one now, both jobs were done very professionally. My wife is very impressed with the results and would recommend them to friends and family.
