The streets behind Embankment station are the Adam brothers' work from the 1760s, which is why John Adam Street, Robert Street and Adelphi Terrace sit up on a raised platform above the old river level. The homes here came out of offices. The Little Adelphi has 66 flats built inside what was government office space, with a concierge and two levels of parking underneath it.
Converted offices, small kitchens
Kipling House on Villiers Street stands on the rooms Rudyard Kipling rented at number 43 between 1889 and 1891; the building itself went up in 1995 with Gordon's Wine Bar left in the cellars. York Buildings is flats, lift and concierge. Across WC2N the pattern is privately rented flats let to people between their late twenties and mid forties in full-time professional work, and the kitchens were laid out by a developer fitting a home into an office floorplate rather than by anyone who cooks a Sunday roast. So: integrated single oven, four-ring hob, a hood recirculating through charcoal, all in one run against an internal wall. We see far more microwaves than range cookers on Buckingham Street, which is not true two miles north of here.
Victoria Embankment is a red route
No stopping at any time on the A3211 along the river, so nothing gets unloaded there. Villiers Street is partly pedestrianised, with traffic running northbound only as far as John Adam Street. We work off the meters on Buckingham Street instead. A dip-tank van does not clear the height barriers on undercroft parking. The Congestion Charge went to £18 a day in January 2026. That is our cost.

Will the concierge need anything from you?
Usually a name and the van registration. Buildings like The Little Adelphi keep a book at the desk, so a call ahead saves a wait in the lobby.
Is the flat usable straight afterwards?
Yes. The tank work happens in the van and the cavity, fan cover and glass are done indoors with non-caustic products, so there is no smell and no wait. The oven is heat-tested before we leave.
Do you charge more for central London?
No. WC2 is inside the North and South Circular, so there is no call-out fee and no central surcharge on 020 8077 5225.
Said after the sign-off
Arrived promptly and did a great job cleaning the oven, hob and extractor. They look like new now and for a very reasonable price too.
Very satisfied with the service. They were slightly late at first but I got a call from customer service to let me know, and it was all fine. The oven man, as he called himself, arrived and worked very hard for a couple of hours. My oven now looks like it has never been used.
Brilliant clean, my oven looks like brand new. A 5 star clean.
