Elverson Road DLR station straddles the boundary between Lewisham and Greenwich, so anyone walking the footbridge to the far platform crosses into another borough and back to catch a train. It opened in 1999 on the Lewisham extension, between Deptford Bridge and Lewisham, on the edge of fare zones 2 and 3. It was one of the quietest stations on the network when it opened. It now runs about 1.47 million entries and exits a year, and the apartment blocks around it are why.
The river was moved to make room for the track
Brookmill Park started in 1880 as a recreation ground beside the Kent Waterworks reservoir, which drew from the Ravensbourne to supply Deptford and Greenwich. The reservoir was infilled in the 1920s. Bombing destroyed housing on Brookmill Road, the cleared ground enlarged the park, and it reopened in 1951 as Ravensbourne Park, taking the Brookmill name back in 1965. Then the DLR came through. The Ravensbourne was given a new channel in the 1990s, most of the park east of the river went to the running line, and what was left reopened in 1998 with the river as its eastern edge.
Terraces first, blocks second
The housing is Victorian terracing with modern apartment blocks dropped in between, and the two want different things. Terraced kitchens of that age generally sit in a rear addition with a freestanding cooker or one oven, the £77 job. The newer blocks are the reason the station got busy, and flats in them tend to come with an integrated oven and a hood built into the run above the hob, so a hood at £28 is often added to the booking. Rental turnover in those blocks is what brings most of the end-of-tenancy work.

Is the price different in Greenwich and Lewisham?
No. The boundary runs through the station and means nothing to the bill. One list, quoted on the phone, no call-out fee inside the North and South Circular.
Will there be a smell in the flat afterwards?
It should not. The heated tank is in the van, so racks, shelves, trays and side runners soak out there. The cavity, fan cover and door glass are degreased by hand indoors, nothing caustic.
Can the hood be done at the same time as the oven?
Yes. The hood is £28 and the hob £23–28, both hand work. Filters come off where the unit allows.
How long will it take?

Very satisfied with the service. They were slightly late at first but I got a call from customer service to let me know, and it was all fine. The oven man, as he called himself, arrived and worked very hard for a couple of hours. My oven now looks like it has never been used.
