Just south of Eltham High Street, Court Yard and Tilt Yard Approach lead off Court Road to Eltham Palace, whose Great Hall and moat bridge date from the end of the 15th century; in the 1930s Stephen and Virginia Courtauld added their Art Deco house beside the hall.

Parking in the Eltham Centre zone
On the council's Eltham Centre zone record, permits apply Monday to Saturday from 9am to 5.30pm, and the CPZ map puts Kings Orchard, most of Tilt Yard Approach and parts of North Park and Wythfield Road inside it. Saturdays count, which is not true of every Eltham zone. The council calls its map a guide, so check the plate on your street, and tell us if you have a drive or a visitor permit.

Which ward is Eltham Palace in now?
Eltham South stopped being a ward in May 2022. The palace, North Park, Kings Orchard and the golf course are now in Eltham Town and Avery Hill ward; the south end of Court Road and part of Footscray Road went to Mottingham, Coldharbour and New Eltham. The streets north of the High Street are on the Eltham North page.
Can the AGA stay on while you clean it?
No. It has to be off from the night before, so the cast iron is cool when we start.

Very satisfied with the service. They were slightly late at first but I got a call from customer service to let me know, and it was all fine. The oven man, as he called himself, arrived and worked very hard for a couple of hours. My oven now looks like it has never been used.
