Elmstead Woods Golf Club, 1907 to 1928
Elmstead Woods Golf Club was formed in 1907, with a nine-hole course in the parkland south of the Sundridge Park mansion, then a hotel. Its changing rooms were in the mansion's stables. It merged with Sundridge Park Golf Club in December 1928, and its ground is now part of that club's East course. Sundridge Park's West course ran up into Rockpit Wood, close to Elmstead Woods station; in 1949 the club decided to close its 6th and 7th holes there because they sat high up and needed special upkeep.
