Elmers End Green, the small triangle where Croydon Road meets Upper Elmers End Road, is marked on a survey made for the landowner Peter Burrell in 1723, and maps from 1775 onwards show it in the same shape and the same place.

In 1919 the council bought land west of the Green for a housing estate, Marion Vian School and allotments, all meant for men coming home from the war. The estate went up in 1920. More building followed on it, and along Upper Elmers End Road, in 1926.
Croydon Road was an earlier development, lined with large houses, and the biggest, Elmer Grange, was built around 1880 for Thomas Price, a retired Welsh tailor. The Landsberg family bought it about 1918 and came to believe it had a medieval priory at its core, which the Ideal Homes history of Bromley calls almost certainly untrue; the belief survives in the name of Priory Close, laid out over the grounds in the mid-1930s.
In the census area the House of Commons Library calls Elmers End (Bromley 041), 47.9% of the 3,089 households in 2021 lived in a terraced house and 31.9% in a semi. Only 10.7% were in a purpose-built block of flats, and 74.2% of households owned their home.
A terrace or semi of this age normally has its kitchen at the back. The usual cooker is a 60cm built-in single or a freestanding cooker; where the kitchen has been pushed out into the garden, a built-in double or a 90cm range is more likely.

Parking near the station and the tram stop
Elmers End station opened on 1 April 1864, on the South Eastern Railway's line from New Beckenham to Addiscombe Road in Croydon. Since 29 May 2000 it has also been the end of a Tramlink line, with trams to Wimbledon by way of East Croydon.
Bromley's permit table has no controlled zone named after Elmers End. The council puts a zone's hours on signs at its entrances and exits, so the sign at the end of your road is the one to go by. The team needs somewhere to park; give us the road name when you book.

About 2 hours, at £110. Both cavities, the fan cover and the door glass are degreased by hand indoors while the racks are soaked and cleaned separately, and the door is split where its design allows.

Is the whole oven cleaned in my kitchen?
The cavity, fan cover and door glass are cleaned by hand there, over dust sheets laid before we start. The racks, trays and side runners come out and are soaked and cleaned separately, and the oven is put back together and heated while you look it over.
