Edmonton Green Shopping Centre stands on the site of the platforms of Lower Edmonton low-level station, which opened on 1 March 1849 and closed to passengers on 11 September 1939.
Three towers over the shopping centre
In 1965 the new London Borough of Enfield approved a scheme to rebuild 61 acres at Edmonton Green. The first stage opened in 1970 on the east side of the old green: a shopping precinct, a swimming pool, an entertainment centre and blocks of flats. The scheme's towers are Grampian House, Mendip House and Pennine House, three towers of about 25 storeys, designed by T. A. Wilkinson and built by the council's own labour force. Mendip House and Pennine House have 184 flats each; their landlord, Metropolitan Thames Valley Housing, says on its residents' website (read in October 2026) that they are to be decommissioned, that residents on floors 23 to 25 had to move by mid-February 2026, and that its target is to re-house everyone on floors 22 and below by the end of 2028. A few minutes south-west, off Victoria Road, the 23-storey towers of the Barbot Street redevelopment (Camelot, Pendragon and Tintagel House, finished in 1971, and Lancelot House from its first phase) have since been demolished.
The 2021 Census area that covers the shopping centre and its towers (Enfield 030D) had about 1,010 households, and 82.1% of them lived in a purpose-built block of flats. Two in three, 66.5%, rented from the council or a housing association; only 8.1% owned outright or with a mortgage.
Cleaning an oven twenty floors up
Height changes the timing, never the method. A tower-block kitchen of this age usually has a freestanding cooker or a built-in single; a single takes about 90 minutes, plus the lift journeys.

Parking zones round the Green
The council's zone boundary file, as archived in December 2022, shows three zones meeting near the centre. Edmonton Green South (Osman Road, Sebastopol Road, Shrubbery Road and part of Fore Street) ran from 9am to 8pm every day. Edmonton Green East (Oxford Road, Monmouth Road, St Martin's Road, Nelson Road) ran from 9am to 6.30pm every day. Edmonton Green West, on part of Church Street and Lion Road, ran only from 11am to noon on weekdays. Since April 2026 the Sunnyside Roads and Leonard Road have had an event-day zone, noon to 9pm, when there is an event at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Check the sign on your street, since the team needs somewhere legal to park.

I live high up in one of the towers. Is that a problem?
No. Tell us the floor when you book; the lift trips add a few minutes but the price stays the same.
Where is the oven cleaned in a tower block?
The cavity and door glass are cleaned by hand in your kitchen. Some teams bring a heated tank and use it when they can park close; otherwise everything is done in the kitchen. The price is the same either way, so ask when you book.
Can the hob be done at the same time?
Yes. A gas hob is £28 and a ceramic hob is £23, on top of the oven. Our hob cleaning page has the detail.
Is this the same area as Lower Edmonton?
