Eden Park is a detached and semi-detached suburb, and the houses on Eden Park Avenue and the roads around it are among the largest in Beckenham, mostly 1930s and later builds with proper family kitchens. That housing brings a different oven mix from the flats up the line. Here we more often meet a range cooker or a two-oven AGA in a fitted kitchen, and where an old house kept its original layout there is sometimes a walk-in larder and a separate second oven. The station opened in 1882 as the first stop on the branch from Elmers End to Hayes, and it still has its wooden buildings, so the roads either side of it are quiet residential streets rather than a busy centre.
The AGA and range end of BR3
An AGA clean here is £143 for the two-oven model. The enamel doors and the hotplate covers get worked by hand, the shelves and the tins go to the van tank, and we do not use caustic on the cast iron. A 90cm range is £114. Most of the semis are still a double at £110, and the smaller flats towards the station a single at £77.

- Racks, shelves, trays and side runners lift out and soak in a heated tank in the van. The cavity, fan cover and door glass are degreased by hand indoors, so there is no smell after.
- AGA
- A cast-iron heat-storage cooker with two or more ovens. Cleaned by hand with non-caustic products, never in a caustic dip.
Parking on the avenues
Most of Eden Park is uncontrolled, and the wide avenues have driveways, so a van usually parks on the drive or right at the kerb and the carry to the tank is short. It is still inside the ULEZ, along with the rest of BR3. There is no call-out fee inside the North and South Circular and no premium for Eden Park.

Prices are fixed on the phone. A single is about ninety minutes, a double nearer two hours, an AGA longer again.

Can you park on the driveway on Eden Park Avenue?
Usually, yes. Most of the avenues are uncontrolled with driveways, so we park close and the carry is short.
Will the kitchen smell of chemicals afterwards?
No. The heavy soaking is in the van. Indoors we work by hand with non-caustic products.
