North Eastcote, from Fore Street to Raisins Hill
A few older buildings survive up here among the newer roads. The Victoria County History, in a section written in 1962, lists Fore Street Farm among the timber-framed houses of the 16th and 17th centuries, mostly north of the River Pinn. At 124-126 Fore Street, Wood Cottages (about 1860) were built for the Haydon Hall estate by the landowner Lawrence James Baker, and Hillingdon keeps them on its local list.
Most homes are 20th century. Set back from Cuckoo Hill, on the Harrow border, the Raisins Hill estate was planned in 1946 by Comben and Wakeling, a Wembley builder, and built in the late 1950s as detached and semi-detached houses on a horseshoe of roads, with pairs of maisonettes along Chamberlain Way. The council made it an Area of Special Local Character on 19 December 2012.
Semis, and the ovens in them
Eastcote is semi-detached country. At the 2021 Census, 49.4% of the 6,751 households in Eastcote ward lived in a semi, against 31.3% next door in Northwood Hills ward; 74.8% owned their home and 15.5% rented privately.
The kitchen in a semi of the 1930s to 1950s has often been refitted at least once, so the cooker could be anything from a freestanding gas cooker to a built-in double at eye level. Whichever it is, the racks, trays and side runners come out and are soaked and cleaned separately, and the cavity, the fan cover and the door glass are cleaned by hand indoors, with dust sheets down first.

Not sure which you have? A double oven has two doors: a large main oven below and a smaller top oven, which usually holds the grill. A single has one door and one cavity, even when a grill element is built into its roof.
Parking on Eastcote's northern roads
Hillingdon's map of parking management schemes (version of 30 March 2026) shades nothing on the roads between Eastcote village and Northwood Hills, Fore Street and Wentworth Drive included, so the lines and signs on your street are what count. The permit zones begin further south, around Eastcote station, where the council's March 2026 notice of proposed changes has zone E bays such as Boldmere Road's as permit-only from 9am to 5pm, Monday to Saturday. The team needs somewhere to park either way.

Eastcote has no post town of its own. The roads up Fore Street are addressed Pinner, HA5, and the streets towards Ruislip are HA4. Both are covered at the same prices.
