East Croydon opened as plain Croydon on 12 July 1841, and the station building in use today opened on 19 August 1992. In 2024-25 it counted about 20.6 million entries and exits.
Flats on old railway land
The land between the station and the town centre was a car park and old rail sidings, and it has been rebuilt as Ruskin Square. Built-in ovens in new flats
A flat in a new block usually has a built-in single, under the hob or at eye level in a tall unit, and some may be pyrolytic. The visit is the same in a tower as anywhere else: racks, trays and side runners come out and are soaked and cleaned separately, while the cavity, fan cover and door glass are degreased by hand in the kitchen. A built-in single takes about 90 minutes.

Parking round the station
