When the census was taken in 1881, twelve of the new houses on Trebovir Road were still empty or unfinished.
Trebovir Road's French-style stucco
The houses had gone up between 1876 and 1879, built by the Van Camps, a Belgian-born family of builders who had settled in Kilburn. Their fronts carry florid stucco in an eighteenth-century French manner, with ornate ironwork and casement windows on the upper floors where London builders normally used sashes. Templeton Place, round the corner, came from the same hands in 1877; it was called Haroldstone Road until 1886. Nevern Square was planned in 1877 and building began there in 1880. By the late 1880s builders on the last plots had turned to mansion flats, such as Kensington Mansions and Nevern Mansions on Trebovir Road and Warwick Road.
The Survey of London records that most of the Van Camps' houses were later altered inside, many of them into hotels, and that No. 13 is now several flats. Kitchens fitted into rooms that were never planned as kitchens tend to be small. In a small kitchen the racks, trays and side runners still come out and are soaked and cleaned separately, and the cavity, fan cover and door glass are degreased by hand indoors.
Who rents round Trebovir Road and Templeton Place
The census area that takes in Longridge Road, Nevern Place, Templeton Place and the middle stretch of Trebovir Road (Kensington and Chelsea 015D; it holds only a corner of Nevern Square) had 797 households in 2021. 51.6% rented from a social landlord, and nearly all of those from a housing association: only 3.4% rented from the council. Another 33.9% rented privately and 13.4% owned. 63.3% lived in a purpose-built block and 31.3% in part of a converted or shared house. On Trebovir Road, Orpen House is a plain four-storey block of flats built for the Royal Borough of Kensington in 1952 and 1953, where Nos. 10 to 14 had been demolished after bomb damage.

The Earls Court site next door
Across Warwick Road is the Earls Court site, 44 acres of former exhibition land that straddles the boundary with Hammersmith and Fulham. Hammersmith and Fulham's planning committee resolved to grant permission for its part on 26 November 2025, and Kensington and Chelsea's committee did the same for its part on 16 December 2025: outline plans for up to 1,400 homes, with 310 in the first phase. The whole masterplan is for around 4,000 homes. In October 2026 the developer's planning page still described the Section 106 agreement as under negotiation, with the Mayor of London's stage 2 review to follow before the permissions are issued.

Saturday parking round Earl's Court Road

Can you come on a Saturday afternoon?
Yes. We work seven days a week, and weekends cost the same as weekdays. The single yellow lines here stay controlled until 6.30pm on Saturdays, so give us the street and we will find a bay.
I rent from a housing association. Can I book a clean myself?
Yes. You book like anyone else, the price is fixed on the phone, and the oven needs to be cool when we arrive.
