Ealing Common is split between two parking zones that run on different clocks. Zone F, which covers Byron Road, Fordhook Avenue, Granville Gardens, Leopold Road, Wolverton Gardens and Woodgrange Avenue, is controlled Monday to Friday from 9am to 10am, 3pm to 4pm and again 6pm to 7pm. Zone G next door drops the evening hour and keeps the other two. A single oven takes about ninety minutes, which is longer than the gap between any two of those windows, so the van will sit through at least one of them whatever time you book. That is our problem to solve, not yours.
Most W5 kitchens were once half a house
The streets round the common are dense with converted Victorian and Edwardian flats, usually two or three carved out of each house, plus the Edwardian mansion blocks fronting the Uxbridge Road. A conversion kitchen is small and often the old rear room, and the cooker in it is a freestanding 60cm or a single built under the worktop. Racks, shelves, trays and side runners go out to the heated tank in the van. The cavity, fan cover and door glass are degreased by hand indoors with non-caustic products, and nothing smells afterwards.
Mount Park is the other extreme
Ealing has 30 conservation areas and active Article 4 directions, and Mount Park is one of them. The houses up there never got divided. They have the room for a 90cm range or an AGA, and the AGAs are the ones people put off longest, because an AGA carbonises quietly rather than smoking the kitchen out. A two-oven AGA in a Mount Park house is £143, fixed, quoted on the phone.

No. There is no premium-area surcharge. A single oven on Mount Park Road costs what a single oven costs anywhere.
My flat is a first-floor conversion with no lift. Is that extra?
No. The parts get carried down to the van and back up. Stairs cost time, not money.
Can you work at the weekend, when zone F is off?
Yes, we work seven days. Weekends are easier round the common for obvious reasons.
Will the AGA be usable that evening?
It is heat-tested and signed off before we leave, so yes.
The awkward fact about Ealing Common is the timing rather than the ovens: zone F is controlled in three separate one-hour bursts a day, which is a pattern you will not meet in many London postcodes.

Very satisfied with the service. They were slightly late at first but I got a call from customer service to let me know, and it was all fine. The oven man, as he called himself, arrived and worked very hard for a couple of hours. My oven now looks like it has never been used.
