Most of our Dulwich work is the large detached and semi-detached houses on and around College Road and Dulwich Village, the ones held on the Dulwich Estate freehold. The kitchens are usually big, often in a rear extension, and they run to serious cooking. This is AGA and Rangemaster country. How we clean it
The racks, trays, shelves and side runners lift out and soak in a heated tank in the van, while the cavity, the fan cover and the door glass are degreased by hand indoors with non-caustic products, which is why there is no caustic smell in the kitchen after and no residue near a food surface. The door is split where the design allows, to reach between the panes, and the oven is heat-tested and signed off before we leave.
Parking and the tollgate
Parking is quieter here than the north of the borough, but it has its own quirks. Dulwich has London's last working tollgate, on a private stretch of College Road, where drivers still pay £1.20 for a single journey. A newer controlled parking zone came in north of the village, covering Townley Road, Gilkes Crescent and Calton Avenue, and the whole of SE21 sits inside the London-wide ULEZ. On the wide estate roads the van parks close to the door most of the time.
