Denham appears in the Domesday Book of 1086 as Deneham, from the Old English for homestead in a valley, and Westminster Abbey held the manor from before the Norman Conquest through the middle ages. St Mary's parish church has a flint and stone Norman tower and Tudor monuments. The civil parish covers 16.02 square kilometres and held 8,284 people at the last count, which puts it 17 miles out from central London and two miles north west of Uxbridge, just above junction 1 of the M40.
Two housing stocks, four centuries apart
A good number of the houses and cottages in the village were built in the 16th and 17th centuries, and some go back further: Southlands Manor is Grade II listed with timbers dated to 1474, and the Old Bakery is reckoned to be 14th century. Denham did not develop much before 1500 and it has not caught up since. Around that core sit Denham Green, Higher Denham and New Denham, which are ordinary 20th-century and later suburban housing, and the kitchens in the two halves have almost nothing in common.
Korda's studio is now somebody's kitchen
Alexander Korda opened Denham Film Studios in 1936 and it was the largest film production facility in the country at the time. Brief Encounter was shot there, and In Which We Serve. The studios closed in 1952, the buildings came down in 1981, the site was relandscaped as a business park, and by around 2017 it had been turned over to housing. New-build stock means an integrated single oven, an induction or ceramic hob and a recirculating extractor that has usually never been touched since handover, and an extractor hood clean adds £28 to the visit. Racks, shelves, trays and side runners soak in the heated tank in the van; the cavity, fan cover and door glass are done by hand indoors with non-caustic products.

Usually, because most of the job is not done in the kitchen. The tank is in the van and the parts travel to it, which is why low ceilings and a narrow galley are less of an obstacle than people expect when they ring.
Do you clean the hob at the same time?
Yes, £23–28 depending on type. Mention it when booking.
Which days do you cover?

Arrived promptly and did a great job cleaning the oven, hob and extractor. They look like new now and for a very reasonable price too.
Very satisfied with the service. They were slightly late at first but I got a call from customer service to let me know, and it was all fine. The oven man, as he called himself, arrived and worked very hard for a couple of hours. My oven now looks like it has never been used.
