The York Rise Estate went up in 1937-8 on railway land north of Kentish Town: five neo-Georgian blocks named after railway and engineering pioneers, Brunel, Faraday, Newcomen, Stephenson and Trevithick. The London Midland and Scottish Railway invited the St Pancras Housing Improvement Society to build there, and the estate housed nearly 600 people when it opened. Grove Terrace is a row of 22 houses of three storeys and attics, built between about 1780 and 1793 and listed Grade II*. The area is named after the Earl of Dartmouth, who bought the land in St Pancras parish in the middle of the 18th century; the 5th Earl allowed a wave of house building late in the 19th. Dartmouth Park became a conservation area in 1992.
For the oven, the split matters. A tall house kept whole can have room for a family kitchen, the kind of room where a 90cm range cooker fits. A flat in one of the estate blocks, or in a house divided up, is more likely to have a built-in single under the worktop.

Dartmouth Park's York Rise streets sit in Camden's Highgate ward. Of its 4,449 households at the 2021 Census, 46.7% owned their home, 33.1% rented from the council or a housing association and only 19.1% rented privately. The price is set by the appliance: a single, a double, a 90cm range and an AGA each have one figure, and it is agreed on the phone before anyone comes out.
Parking near York Rise in a two-hour zone
The streets round York Rise and Chetwynd Road are in Camden's CA-U Highgate zone. On the council's zone data, controls there last two hours, 10am to noon, Monday to Friday, with none at weekends. Dartmouth Park Hill is different: its strip is a sub-zone, CA-U(a), controlled 8.30am to 6.30pm on weekdays and 8.30am to 1.30pm on Saturdays. Double yellow lines are controlled at all hours, and the plate on the kerb overrides any map.
Camden sells trade permits to builders and other service providers working for a local resident or business; they cover resident bays during controlled hours, though not housing estates, which keep their own rules. Give us the street when you call, so we know where the team can park.

Can you clean a 100cm range in one of the big houses?
Yes. A 100cm range is £167 and a 90cm range is £143; tell us the width when you book so the visit is planned for the right length.
Does a Saturday cost more?
No, weekends are charged at the weekday price. In CA-U the zone data lists no Saturday controls at all, although the Dartmouth Park Hill sub-zone runs until 1.30pm.
How do I know the oven is right before you go?
It is reassembled and heated, and you look inside it lit. If a corner is not right when you inspect it, we put it right before we leave.
