Darenth is sometimes called the village that moved. Go to the point where the Ordnance Survey map marks it and you find St Margaret of Antioch on a hillside rather than a settlement. The church is Grade I, records run back to 940, it is reckoned the third oldest in Kent, some of its stone is thought to have come from the Roman villa nearby, and the Norman font is still in use.
