Cowley Peachey, the manor by the canal
The manor is older than the canal. Westminster Abbey held an estate at Cowley by 1086, and that manor came to be called Cowley, or Cowley Peachey. By 1825 a small group of buildings had appeared round two docks at Cowley Peachey, and in 1929 33 acres in the south of the old parish, bounded by the canal and Packet Boat Lane, were transferred to Yiewsley. The Slough Arm, opened throughout on 4 December 1882 to serve brickmaking, leaves the main canal here at Cowley Peachey Junction.

Flats beside the Grand Union
More than half the homes in this corner of Cowley are flats.
