Coombe Hill, Coombe Warren and Coombe Park take up most of the ground here, wrapped around the Coombe Hill and Coombe Wood golf courses, and the addresses we get called to are the same handful over and over: Coombe Hill Road, Warren Road, George Road, Golf Club Drive, cul-de-sacs like Greenwood Park and Coombe Neville. The big houses along George Road went up between 1850 and 1870, several designed by George Devey, and two are schools now: Rokeby in the old Coombe Croft, Holy Cross Prep in Coombe Ridge.

In a Warren Road kitchen we will often find a two-oven AGA plus a second electric double for summer, which is a normal setup in a house that size and a normal booking for us: the AGA clean is £143 and the double next to it is £110. Rangemasters and 90cm ranges turn up in the newer replacement houses. Very few integrated singles.

Parking is easy here, the gates less so
No CPZ, no permit. Everyone has a drive and the van goes on it. What catches people out is the estate roads themselves, which have been gated since they were built, back when the whole lot was the Duke of Cambridge's land before 1933, and although most of the white five-bar timber gates now sit fixed open there is signage at every entrance. Tell us which entrance you use.

There is no premium-area surcharge and there never has been, which surprises people on Coombe Hill Road often enough that we mention it on the phone.
Will an AGA clean damage the enamel?
No. Nothing caustic goes on it. The lift-out parts soak in the heated tank in the van, and the enamel and cast iron are hand-worked indoors with non-caustic products.
How long do I need the AGA off for?
Overnight is ideal. It cannot be cleaned warm and it will not come down to temperature in an hour.
Do you clean the extractor over a range?
Yes, £28 for the hood. The filters over a 90cm range in a Coombe kitchen are usually worse than the oven.
Is the oven tested before you leave?
Every one. It goes back on, comes up to heat and gets signed off with you there. Our technicians are insured and DBS-checked.
