The second Duke of Cambridge inherited the Coombe estate in 1850 and began leasing land for building. Kingston Council's Coombe Wood conservation area, 113 properties set round the golf course between Kingston Hill, George Road and Warren Road, has Warren House (1865), Renfrew Road (laid out in 1908 with smaller detached houses) and 1930s detached houses on the site of the demolished Coombe Court. The Coombe Hill conservation area, 84 properties, is mostly 20th-century houses in the grounds of two Victorian mansions. George Devey designed houses and outbuildings on both estates, and the council's page names nine listed buildings there, on Coombe Hill Road, Beverley Lane and Coombe Lane West.

Parking in zones N and H and on the hill
The station end of Coombe Road is split between two of Kingston's zones. Zone N (Norbiton) covers the first stretch (the north side up to no. 17, the south side as far as Norbiton Avenue) and Station Approach, with hours that vary by area on the council's list. Zone H (Kingston Hill), Monday to Saturday, 8.30am to 6.30pm, has the north side from no. 17 to no. 33, Alderton Court on the south side, and Wolverton Avenue. George Road and Warren Road are on neither street list, but read the signs at your entrance. A drive or a space by the door helps.
