Oven cleaning in Coombe, CR0, the old village south-east of Croydon around Coombe Lane. Dip tank in the van, seven days, single ovens from £77.
There was an estate at Coombe by 1221, held by a Richard of Coombe, and the name is Old English for a valley. In 1722 people digging at the village turned up a great number of Roman urns. Coombe sits south-east of central Croydon between Addiscombe, Selsdon and Upper Shirley, ringed by Addington Hills, Lloyd Park, Ballards and Coombe Wood, which is roughly why plenty of people who live in Croydon could not point at it on a map.
Three old houses, three different endings
Coombe House dates from 1761 and is Grade II listed, with a 145-foot well and the tunnels tied to the William Harvey story. Coombe Lodge, a Georgian mansion of the 1760s, is a Wetherspoons. Coombe Wood House was built in 1898 for Arthur Lloyd, brother of Frank Lloyd, and turned into a fine dining restaurant in 2025. The ornamental gardens and 14 acres of woodland next to it, near the junction of Coombe Lane and Conduit Lane, were kept by the Council and opened to the public in 1948.
The trams stayed, the trains went
Coombe Road railway station closed in 1983. Tramlink runs through instead, stopping at Coombe Lane and Lloyd Park, and Coombe Lane, the continuation of Coombe Road, is still the road everything hangs off.
The Victorian houses were cut into flats
The CR0 1BP end of Coombe Road is largely Victorian houses converted into flats, and 34 to 36 Coombe Road alone was split into eight of them. Conversion flats mean tenancies, and tenancies mean inventory checks. Racks, shelves, trays and side runners soak in the heated tank in the van, the cavity, fan cover and door glass are degreased by hand indoors with non-caustic products, and the oven is heat-tested before sign-off. Here is what a single oven in a Coombe Road conversion costs: £77, about ninety minutes.
What it costs in CR0
| Single oven | £77 |
| Double oven | £110 |
| Range cooker, 90cm | £114 |
| Two-oven AGA | £143 |
| Hob | £23–28 |
| Extractor hood | £28 |
| Microwave | £22 |
Questions from Coombe Lane
Will a clerk accept this at check-out?
That is the job it is built for. The door glass is split where the design allows, which is what gets looked through first.
I am on the top floor of a conversion with no lift. Does that matter?
Tell us when you book. The racks and trays have to come down to the van, so the number of stairs changes the timing rather than the price.
Is there a surcharge for Croydon?
No. Fixed prices, and no call-out fee inside the North and South Circular.
Can you clean the microwave too?
Yes, £22, and it is worth adding to a check-out clean.

What customers tell us
Nice hardworking lads that always do a good job. We used them for our old flat when moving out and for the new one now, both jobs were done very professionally. My wife is very impressed with the results and would recommend them to friends and family.
Very satisfied with the service. They were slightly late at first but I got a call from customer service to let me know, and it was all fine. The oven man, as he called himself, arrived and worked very hard for a couple of hours. My oven now looks like it has never been used.
Arrived promptly and did a great job cleaning the oven, hob and extractor. They look like new now and for a very reasonable price too.
