The bulk of our EN4 jobs are the 1930s detached and semi-detached houses on the streets between Cockfosters station and Trent Park, and the newer Berkeley-built flats up on the old estate. Those interwar kitchens tend to hold a proper double oven or a range, and the near-new apartments run an integrated single, so we see both in a day here. Almost every house has a driveway, which is a small thing that makes a real difference to the job.
Driveways and parking here
Cockfosters is the northern end of the Piccadilly line, and because the station car park fills with commuters on weekday mornings while the roads nearest the tube get tight, we tend to park on the driveway and work from there rather than fight for a kerb space. On roads like Chalk Lane, close to the tube and the park, there is space off-street to set the van up. That matters because our method carries oven parts out to a heated tank, and a short walk to the van keeps the whole visit tidy.

- Racks, shelves, trays and side runners lift out and soak in a hot tank in the van. The cavity, fan cover and door glass are degreased by hand indoors with non-caustic products, so there is no chemical smell after.

A single oven is about ninety minutes. A double runs closer to two hours. In the new-build flats on the estate the cooker is usually one built-in single, and our single oven cleaning covers the cavity, the fan cover, the door glass and the runners.

Do you clean the integrated ovens in the new flats?
Yes. Built-in single ovens are the norm in the Berkeley apartments, and we treat them the same way, degreasing the cavity by hand and soaking the racks in the van.
Is the heat test really part of it?
It is. Once everything is back in, we run the oven up to check the element and thermostat still work before we sign it off. That way you know it heats before we go.
Can you do a weekend slot?
We work Saturdays and Sundays. Weekends here book up first, so give us a ring a couple of days ahead.
