St Mary's, the old parish church of Willesden, is first mentioned in 1181, and Church End grew up around it; when the parish was inclosed in 1823 there were still only about 20 houses here, most of them small cottages. It sits between Neasden to the north and Harlesden to the south.
Three rounds of rebuilding off Church Road
Terraces came after the railway reached Church End in 1868 and the United Land Company began buying estates here in 1869. By 1949 the area around Church Road had 1,116 houses and 314 flats, and the Victoria County History says almost all the housing was closely packed terraces thought fit for redevelopment. From 1963 the council started buying property in the 50 acres between Church Road, Craven Park, the railway and Neasden Lane, and in 1971 it began rebuilding from the southern end.
That estate was replaced in turn. In 1998 Brent handed its Church End and Roundwood estates to Fortunegate Community Housing, a local body set up to regenerate them. Fortunegate pulled down the 752 homes of the Church End Resiform estate, built 556 new ones and repaired 664 older council homes. The streets were laid out again, and Brent Museum and Archives was consulted on the new street names.
The third round is under way. The old Church Road car park is the site of 99 council homes, one to three bedroom flats in blocks of two to six storeys, with a market square and new market stalls on Eric Road. Work started on 15 April 2024, and Brent's parking consultation of March 2026 described the homes, retail units and market square as due in summer 2026. Brent's Church End growth area plans 1,300 new homes by 2041.
A housing association flat or house may have a fitted kitchen with a built-in single oven, or a space for a tenant's own freestanding cooker. The method is the same either way. Racks, trays and side runners come out and are soaked and cleaned separately, while the cavity, fan cover and door glass are degreased by hand indoors, on dust sheets laid first.

The price is set by the appliance: a single, a double, a 90cm range and an AGA each have one fixed figure, agreed on the phone before anyone comes out. A hob or extractor cleaned at the same visit is added at its own price.
Parking in Church End's zones HC and HY
Parking here changed in 2026. Residents petitioned Brent in December 2024 about commuters leaving cars on their streets all day; the council consulted on a new zone in May and June 2025, and Brent's zone map lists zone HC as operational from 13 April 2026.

Both zones are weekday-only, so a Saturday or Sunday visit falls outside permit hours, at the weekday price. On a weekday the team needs a legal place to park. Brent's Wembley event-day zone reaches Brentfield Road, to the west, but the map leaves the Church End streets outside it.
