Terraces of artisans' houses went up along Cricklewood Lane near the Red Lion, in the Mead, later renamed Granville Road, and near the Castle inn. The old district straddled the Hendon-Hampstead parish boundary, and Platt's Lane, on the Hampstead side, is in Camden today. The streets round Crewys Road, Llanvanor Road and Nant Road are a short walk from Granville Road.
