Chessington North and Chessington South opened on 28 May 1939, and the branch line was laid to serve houses that were never all built, because green belt legislation stopped the line short of Leatherhead and stopped the estates with it. That accident of planning is why the housing here comes in two hard blocks rather than a gradual spread, and it decides what we find in the kitchen.
Two blocks of housing
- The 1930s semis that went up with the railway. Original kitchens, mostly refitted once, freestanding cookers common.
- The 1950s council estate around Garrison Lane, much of it now privately owned, with small kitchens and single ovens.
- Bungalows and later townhouses scattered between the two.
Out towards the green belt edge the detached houses get bigger and the occasional two-oven AGA turns up, so an AGA clean at £143 is a booking we take here more than in most of KT.

Chessington is the odd corner where the zone edge cuts across the map rather than round it. Per TfL, at Rushett Lane the A243 going north is inside the zone while going south is outside, and Chessington Road turning into Moor Lane is outside. Neighbours on the same errand pay differently. None of it lands on you, though. Our van is compliant and there is no surcharge on the price either way.

How long does an AGA take?
Longer than a normal oven. A two-oven AGA is most of a morning, and it needs to be off and cold before we start, so we agree the timing when you book.
Do you go out to the Lion Park Avenue industrial units?
Yes, we do staff kitchens and small commercial ovens on the Chessington industrial estate, though the pricing there depends on the machine.
Will there be a smell afterwards?
No. The caustic side of the job happens in the tank in the van, and the products used indoors are non-caustic.
Are your technicians checked?
Insured and DBS-checked, and the oven is heat-tested and signed off before we leave.
