Oven cleaning around Charing Cross and Craven Street in WC2, seven days a week. Single ovens from £77, doubles £110, quoted fixed on the phone.
Distances to London are still measured from the Charles I statue at the top of Whitehall, a couple of minutes from the station concourse. The flats sit behind and beside all that, on Craven Street running down towards Northumberland Avenue, and on the Avenue itself. Very few people live here. The ones who do mostly rent.
Georgian houses cut into flats
Craven Street is a mid-Georgian terrace, largely Grade II, with number 36 listed Grade I as Benjamin Franklin House, the only Franklin home left standing anywhere in the world. Those houses are flats now, one or two to a floor, and the kitchens went wherever they would fit. Listing is why so many of them have a hood recirculating through charcoal rather than a duct cut out through the front elevation, and it is why the filter is usually the dirtiest thing in the room. Ceilings are high. Cookers are more often freestanding than integrated, which suits us, since a freestanding oven leaves room to split the door properly.
Northumberland Avenue is the outlier
The flats on Northumberland Avenue run to another scale entirely, some past three thousand square feet, let by the week. That is where the real cookers are. The 90cm ranges in the Northumberland Avenue flats are the only ones we meet with any regularity in this corner of WC2. Everywhere else around Charing Cross it is one integrated oven under a hob.
Access and parking
Craven Street carries traffic restrictions and fills up with station and hotel vehicles, the Strand end is no use to a van at any hour, and Northumberland Avenue is metered and taken by eight. So we come early, or we come at the weekend. The Congestion Charge is £18 a day and sits on our side of the invoice.

What people ask
Can you clean an oven in a listed building?
Yes. Nothing we do touches the fabric of the building. The parts come out to the tank in the van and the cavity is degreased by hand with non-caustic products.
How long will you be in the flat?
Around ninety minutes for a single, closer to two hours for a double, plus a few minutes each way for the walk to the van. It is heat-tested before we sign off.
Is there a call-out fee for WC2?
No. Charing Cross is well inside the North and South Circular, so the price on the phone is the price at the door.

Reviews from our rounds
Once again a great job guys, I will see you in a couple of months.
Brilliant clean, my oven looks like brand new. A 5 star clean.
Nice hardworking lads that always do a good job. We used them for our old flat when moving out and for the new one now, both jobs were done very professionally. My wife is very impressed with the results and would recommend them to friends and family.
