Arngask Road takes its name from a Perthshire parish with links to Archibald Corbett's younger brother Harry, who died of tuberculosis in his late twenties; Glenfarg Road, beside it, is named after a village in that parish, where Harry had put down roots. Both are in Catford South ward, which since 2022 has run south from these western streets of the Corbett estate, through the Forster estate off Bromley Road, to Whitefoot Lane and Melfield Gardens by Southend.

The Corbett Society's study of the 1911 census lists 121 houses on Arngask Road. Going up the hill from St Fillans Road, many of the houses on the left have four bedrooms, with a rear extension that holds the kitchen and has the fourth bedroom above it. Those on the right are a little larger, with three bedrooms and no extension. Fordel Road, built around 1896, has 140 houses behind one frontage design, 100 of them built with three bedrooms and 40 with four; many have since had loft conversions, and some are now flats.
In the census area that takes in Arngask and Glenfarg Roads (Lewisham 022E), 59.2% of the 635 households lived in a terraced house in 2021 and 16.4% in part of a converted or shared house. Most (63.8%) owned their home. A kitchen in the back extension of a house this age is often long and narrow, with a built-in oven in the run of units or a freestanding cooker at the far end.
The Forster estate between Culverley and Newquay Roads
West of the Corbett streets, the Forster Estate, east of Bromley Road, was laid out between 1903 and 1914, from Culverley Road down to Newquay Road; by 1917 it was nearly complete as far as Arran Road. Inchmery, Bargery and Arran Roads lie inside it. Further south, across Whitefoot Lane and into BR1, the ward takes in Winlaton and Oakshade Roads. In the census area that includes them (Lewisham 030E), 62.1% of the 628 households lived in a semi-detached house in 2021 and 73.4% owned their home. Across the whole ward, 60.6% of the 6,264 households were owner-occupiers.

Zone R and the Corbett streets
Zone R, which Lewisham's table calls Rushey Green South, is controlled from 9am to 7pm on weekdays and on the council's map covers streets such as Elmer Road, Sportsbank Street and Engleheart Road. In July 2025 the Mayor and Cabinet approved taking it into Arngask, Fordel, Glenfarg, Sandhurst and St Fillans Roads and part of Torridon Road. The statutory consultation on that, together with changes to Sandhurst and Sangley Roads, opened on 11 September 2026 for 28 days. Until new signs appear those roads are outside any zone, so check before the day. On Fordel Road many front gardens have become off-street parking; if yours has, say so when you book, as the team needs somewhere to park.
