Oven cleaning across Caterham, CR3, up on the Hill and down in the Valley. Dip-tank method, seven days a week, single ovens from £77.
Caterham is two civil parishes, not one town: Caterham on the Hill, the old settlement around St Lawrence's church, which was established somewhere around 1095, and Caterham Valley, the newer half that grew off the railway. The 2011 census put the pair together at 21,030 people across 9.41 square kilometres, six miles south of Croydon in Tandridge district.
The Hill and the Valley are different jobs
The Valley came after 1856, when the Caterham line arrived from Purley and made the station a terminus, and it filled with Victorian and later stock stepped up the sides of a dry chalk valley. The Hill kept the older centre and the institutions: De Stafford School, the former St Lawrence's Hospital, and the High Street with its independents. Soper Hall on Harestone Valley Road, built in 1911 as headquarters for Caterham Urban District Council, sits on the Valley side of the divide.
The Guards Depot became 361 homes
Caterham Barracks ran from 1877 to 1995, then the site was rebuilt as the Village, 361 homes in two, two-and-a-half and three-storey terraces, roughly 27 per cent of them affordable through the Guinness Trust, with the listed chapel and eighteen other buildings kept and refurbished and the old boundary wall opened up. Terraced housing of that age is rare in Caterham. Kitchens in it are compact and nearly all take a built-under single or a slimline double, which is why oven cleaning on the Village terraces is mostly a £77 or £110 booking.
Three hours free on the Hill
The High Street up on the Hill has free parking for three hours, which is longer than a single oven takes. The Valley is the busier side, with the A22 and the Godstone Road bypass, open since 1939, pulling traffic around the centre. Tandridge charges no congestion fee and no ULEZ applies. Fixed price, no premium-area surcharge, whether the address is CR3 5 or CR3 6.

From the Hill and the Valley
Is this any good for an end-of-tenancy check?
Yes. The door glass is split where the design allows, which is the bit an inventory clerk looks at.
What happens to the racks and shelves?
They lift out and soak in a heated tank in the van. Everything fixed, so the cavity, fan cover and inner glass, is degreased by hand indoors with non-caustic products.
Do you charge more for the Hill than the Valley?
No. Same list either side.

What customers tell us
Once again a great job guys, I will see you in a couple of months.
Nice hardworking lads that always do a good job. We used them for our old flat when moving out and for the new one now, both jobs were done very professionally. My wife is very impressed with the results and would recommend them to friends and family.
Very satisfied with the service. They were slightly late at first but I got a call from customer service to let me know, and it was all fine. The oven man, as he called himself, arrived and worked very hard for a couple of hours. My oven now looks like it has never been used.
