Oven cleaning in Castle Green, RM9, and the Becontree streets around Gale Street. Dip-tank method, seven days a week, single ovens from £77.
Castle Green Centre stands on Gale Street, RM9 4UN, and the one site carries Jo Richardson Community School, a library, a theatre, conference space, a leisure centre and the pitches Barking RFC play on. The 173 and 287 buses run past it. Becontree is the nearest tube.
Cottage houses, not blocks
Castle Green sits inside the Becontree estate, laid out between 1921 and 1935 as low-rise cottage-garden housing and still the largest scheme of its kind in Europe. The name comes from a castellated house put up around 1800 that stood until 1938. Stock of that age tends towards a back kitchen with a freestanding cooker or an under-counter single, a short front path, and a kerb the van can actually reach. A single oven in a Becontree cottage house is £77 and takes about ninety minutes.
Licensing pulled the rentals into the open
Barking and Dagenham switched on a borough-wide selective licensing scheme on 6 April 2025, the first council in the country to use the general approval that came into force on 23 December 2024, which means a landlord letting to a single household on these roads now needs a five-year licence and an inspection before the council will issue it. Additional HMO licensing for three or four people in two or more households started on 9 January 2025. Inspectors open oven doors.
Fifteen thousand homes are drawn on this ground
The Castle Green proposal covers 15,000 new dwellings, a rerouted A13 and roughly 3.7 million square feet of commercial floorspace across the land running down towards Creekmouth. None of it is built. The kitchens here are still the 1920s ones, and RM9 carries no surcharge on our price list either way.

Questions we get in RM9
Do you need my sink or my hot water?
No. The heated tank and the water both live in the van, so the racks, shelves, trays and side runners go out to the kerb and soak there.
Will the house smell of chemicals afterwards?
It should not. The soaking is done outside. Indoors the cavity, fan cover and door glass are degreased by hand with non-caustic products.
Can you work to a check-out date?
Yes. We run seven days, and the oven is heat-tested and signed off before we leave, which is the state an inventory clerk is looking for.
How long does a double take?
Around two hours, against ninety minutes or so for a single.

Reviews from our rounds
Brilliant clean, my oven looks like brand new. A 5 star clean.
Very satisfied with the service. They were slightly late at first but I got a call from customer service to let me know, and it was all fine. The oven man, as he called himself, arrived and worked very hard for a couple of hours. My oven now looks like it has never been used.
I would certainly recommend this service, very efficient and good value for money. The young man did a great job and even cleaned the kitchen floor. Thank you.
