Beeches Halt opened on 1 October 1906 at the north end of Beechnut Tree Walk, the road now called Beeches Avenue. When the line was electrified the halt was rebuilt as a proper station and renamed Carshalton Beeches on 1 April 1925.

Before 1925 the halt stood in thinly settled farmland known as Carshalton Fields, much of it once Barrow Hedges Farm, and Sutton council's history records only a small amount of building along Beeches Avenue before the First World War. Outside No. 56 stands a listed pillar box of the hexagonal pattern J W Penfold designed in 1865, with VR on the door. On Queen Mary's Avenue, the Church of the Good Shepherd was built in 1930 by Martin Travers and T F W Grant in a Spanish Baroque style, with a copper roof.
The 2021 Census area that the House of Commons Library calls Carshalton Beeches & Banstead Road (Sutton 022), which takes in Beeches Avenue and Waverley Way, had 2,863 households. 41.3% lived in a detached house and 38.4% in a semi; just 3.4% had a terraced house. 86.6% owned their home, and 45.6% owned it outright.

Permit hours on Gordon Road by the station
Sutton's Gordon Road Area permit zone, CB, sits just east of the station. It covers Gordon Road, Glebe Road and Blakehall Road, with parts of Grosvenor Avenue, Salisbury Road, Park Hill and Carshalton Park Road. The zone began on 31 May 2021, was extended on 1 March 2025 and runs Monday to Friday from 10am to noon, according to the council's parking checker. Beeches Avenue and Waverley Way are not on the checker, so no permit zone is listed for them; the signs on the street say what applies. The team needs somewhere to park.
