Getting the van in
Parking is the real operational fact in E14, because the racks ride down to the tank and back up. Most towers route deliveries through a service bay or a concierge-managed loading area rather than a kerbside space, and the estate roads around the Wharf are private and tightly controlled. Prices are fixed on the phone with no surcharge for a Wharf address, so a flat on the 50th floor pays the same £77 as a ground-floor studio. Range cookers and AGAs are effectively never seen in these towers, though the rates stand if one turns up in a townhouse across at Wood Wharf.
Between tenancies
Canary Wharf runs on corporate and short-term lets, and the churn is fast: a studio here can turn over two or three times in a year, and the managing agents want the oven heat-tested and signed off before the next check-in.
