The homes at Wood Wharf
The homes came later, mostly to the east. Wood Wharf is a 23-acre site on the north quay of South Dock, taken over in full by Canary Wharf Group in 2012 and given planning permission by Tower Hamlets in July 2014 and by the Mayor of London that December. The plan is for about 3,330 homes, roughly a quarter of them affordable.
The first towers are up. 10 Park Drive (42 floors, 345 flats) and 8 Water Street (13 floors, 174 flats) were finished in 2020. One Park Drive, a round tower of 57 floors with 484 private flats, was the first housing in the UK designed by Herzog and de Meuron. On the Westferry Road side of the estate, the Newfoundland tower at Heron Quays opened for rent in May 2021 with 636 flats.
Wood Wharf is part of the Canary Wharf estate, yet most of its new postcodes, including those of One Park Drive and 8 Water Street, are counted in Blackwall and Cubitt Town ward, not Canary Wharf ward. The address on your booking can say either.
A flat in a new tower usually has an integrated oven, and the kitchen is often open to the living room. The racks, trays and side runners come out and are soaked and cleaned separately, and the cavity, fan cover and door glass are degreased by hand in the flat.

Getting the van onto a private estate
Canary Wharf is privately owned, and Tower Hamlets' parking zones cover public roads only; outside the estate the streets are in zone D, controlled 8.30am to 5.30pm on weekdays according to the council's zone page. On the estate, Canary Wharf Group's parking page lists four public car parks (Canada Square, Cabot Square, Jubilee Place and Westferry Circus) that share a 2.0m height limit.
